In the beginner course, you’ll carefully learn step by step:

In the advanced course, you’ll learn formal kimono dressing suitable for special occasions, including furisode, tomesode, and advanced techniques with fukuro obi.

This course prepares you for:

The goal is to achieve a kimono appearance that makes you feel confident in any formal setting.

Rather than “becoming a professional,” the emphasis is on being able to create a professional-level appearance by yourself.

This advanced course is designed for students who already have basic kimono experience and would like to learn how to dress themselves in furisode beautifully and confidently.

Furisode is the most formal women’s kimono and requires careful balance, precise technique, and attention to detail — from undergarments to final obi shaping.

Step by step, we work through the full dressing process, with repeated reviews and model dressing to build confidence and fluency.

The course is taught in a private or small-group setting, allowing personal guidance and adjustment for each student.

✦ Beginner Level – Foundation & Preparation

(Lessons 1-3)

We start with the essential basics and build a strong foundation.

You will learn:

  • Preparation, adjustment, and how to wear kimono undergarments
  • How to put on the juban (nagajuban) correctly
  • How to put on furisode (Part 1 & Part 2)
  • Proper alignment, collar balance, and sleeve handling

Focus:
Understanding body balance, layering, and the unique structure of furisode.

✦ Intermediate Level – Review & Obi Techniques

(Lessons 4-6)

At this stage, we deepen technique and introduce formal obi tying.

You will practice:

  • Full review of furisode dressing
  • Model dressing for posture and silhouette
  • How to tie a Fukuro Obi (with repeated guidance)
  • Improving speed, stability, and overall harmony

Bringing everything together into a graceful, complete furisode self-dressing.
